George and Agnes Welsh who were tavern keepers, first in Bristol and then in Newton when the county seat/courthouse was moved in 1726. In Newtown they ran what is now known as the Bird in Hand Tavern, the oldest existing wooden structure in PA.[1]
George died 1735/1736 and Agnes asked the court to grant her a license so she can support her large family.
