Biography
Lorna Hazel Agnew was born in 1904 at Tairua, Coromandel, New Zealand. She is believed to be the daughter of Gordon Agnew and Ellen Morrison (and not Gordon's wife Letitia)[1] although no birth registration record has been found for a Lorna Agnew or Lorna Morrison.
Lorna Hazel Agnew married Patrick George Pascoe (from Queensland, Australia) in 1922 in New Zealand.[2] They had three children: Shirley Pascoe, Roy Pascoe, Barry Pascoe. They appear to have travelled between New Zealand and Australia on several occasions after they married.[3]
Lorna and Patrick appear to have separated about 1930 when Patrick was remanded for failing to maintain his wife and children.[4] They divorced in 1933.[5]
Lorna Hazel Pascoe married Archdale Henry Robert Magrath in 1933 in New Zealand.[6] Archdale Magrath had served in the New Zealand Navy in the 1930s and he served in the New Zealand Medical Corps during World War II.
Lorna and Archdale Magrath divorced in 1945.[7]
Lorna married Esmond Wright.
Lorna Hazel Wright died in 1973.[8] She was buried at Mangere Lawn Cemetery, South Auckland. Death notice:
- WRIGHT, Lorna Hazel. On February 1 1973. Dearly loved mother of Shirley, Roy and Barry, mother-in-law of Ted, loved grandmother of Colleen, Kerry, Robert, Kathryn, Kristine and Jo-anne and great grandmother of Nicola and Michelle. A service will be held at St. Albans Anglican Church, Dominion Road, Balmoral at 2pm tomorrow (Saturday) the funeral then leaving for Mangere Lawn Cemetery. Communications to 23 Farringdon Street, Glen Innes.
