John was born on September 27, 1864 in Alvsborg, Sweden and immigrated to the US (date unknown, but prior to 1892), settling in Boston, Massachusetts.
His marriage record records his name as Johan, but most records indicate him as John. He was naturalized on October 27, 1902. He had five children with his wife, Ellen Dwyer, whom he married on Christmas Day in 1892.
It is uncertain when John died, but it is after 1930 as he is found on that census still alive. As there were two John Agnew's in the same location, his death date is not yet verified.
