5 July 1898 enlisted in the army and was assigned to the 2nd artillery regiment at Ft. McHenry, MD

In 1900 he resided in Goshen, Hampshire, MA in a boarding house.

1910 Resided on Water Street in Leeds Village, Northampton, Hampshire, MA Where he and his wife, Johanna (Annie) Cavanaugh (Kevane) raised 10 children. He lived there until his death in 1932 of a cerebral hemorrhage
