Simon Ahern was born about 1810 in Carrigtwohill, County Cork, Ireland, the son of John Ahern, born in Templerobin townland about 1775, and his wife Unknown Ahern. It is likely that his mother's name was Margaret or Johanna as she has granddaughters with those names.
Simon Ahern moved to Glounthaune, County Cork, Ireland
Simon Ahern married Johanna Riordan of Gortroe Civil Parish about February 1835, and had children:
Margaret "Peg" Ahern born October 9, 1836, who went to the USA. where she later passed away.
Johanna Ahern born January 26, 1838, who went to the USA, where she later passed away.
John Ahern, Sr. born 1840, in Glounthaune townland, who married Ellen McSweeny from Gortroe Civil Parish, and had children. John moved to Lisgoold West townland and worked as a blacksmith.
William Ahern, born June 6, 1842, named for his uncle William who passed away young in 1832. William Ahern went to the USA, where he later passed away.
Thomas Ahern, born July 6, 1844 in Glouthaune who married Ellen Dwyer, born February 11, 1849, had children and later died in Clash, Leamlara.
Simon Ahern passed away in Glouthaune townland before 1910 and probably before 1901.
