Biography

Murtagh was born in 1776 possible in the Ballycullane and Bruff areas of Limerick.

He was arrested and tried in Limerick in June 1801.

Transported to the New South Wales Penal colony in late November 1801, along with his brothers Matthias, John and Michael. Though some believe that Matthias was not convicted and therefore not transported to Australia.
