Biography

Kim was born in 1949. His father, [Ahrens 164- Peter Ahrens] smuggled the family from East Germany on a sailboat Peter built to Sweden where they became Swedish citizens. They lived in Saffle, and in Akorn and attended school there until 1960 when his family flew a Rapide airplane to Australia, from Stockholm down through France, Italy, Greece to Iran, India through the Far East and Indonesia. After a stay in the immigrant camps, they moved to Tasmania and then to Sydney where Kim completed the eleventh grade. The family moved to Victoria Island, British Columbia, Canada where he graduated from high school. They moved to Santa Monica and then to Trancas Canyon, California. Kim attended Northrop University in Inglewood, California and started the Ahrens Aircraft Company on his land on and attached Oxnard Airport in Ventura County. There he developed the AR 402 transport plane prototype. At the request of the US government, he put the AR404 into production, in Ramey, Aguadillia, Puerto Rico, training over 150 employees. He took a two year sabbatica to restore five Victoria Houses in Reno, Nevada and in 1984 he join BHT as a senior design engineer. At the time of his death, he was the senior design engineer on the BHT407, but refused to sign off the ship for delivery due to critical problems with the FADEC fuel flow system. He was found dead in the apartment at 1118 Rue Blondin, St. Jerome, Quebec, Canada. Date of death was written 12 Sept 1995 by the Asst. director of Coroner for Quebec. His body was prepared for burial by Herbert Paperman in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Kim was buried at the Beth Shalom section of Moore Cemetery, Arlington, Tarrant, Texas, United States of America [1]
