Anna Ahrens, daughter of John H. Ahrens and Anita "Mattie" Meyers, was born 3 July 1877 in Germany. Anna died in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri on 3 February 1947 and was buried at the Forest Hill Cemetery, located in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri on 6 February 1947.
According to immigration records Anna immigrated to the United States at the age of 6 on the ship "Ohio". She arrived in Baltimore, Maryland on 20 October 1883. Her name at that time was given as Anna Huhn and she was accompanied by Sophia Huhn, age 28, and Rosa Huhn, age 3. At this time the exact relationship to Sophia and Rosa has not been determined conclusively but information passed down by family members claim that Sophia was her aunt.
Anna married George Carl Stauss, son of Felix Stauss and Elizabeth Stecker/Stocker, on 13 June 1899 in Fairbury, Jefferson, Nebraska. They were the parents of four children: Vera, Paul, Georgia, and Frances.
After the death of their daughter Vera, George and Anna raised Vera's two sons, Paul E. and Wayne C. St. John, changing their last name to Stauss.
