Biography

Gilbert married Isabel de Warenne, daughter of Hamelin, 5th Earl of Surrey.

According to Richardson, Gilbert and Isabel had:

  • Gilbert
  • Richer
  • William
  • Alice

Gilbert lost his lands in England in 1204 due to his opposition to King John. He seems to have returned to favour eventually after paying a fine, but apparently he did not regain Pevensey.

I think this Gilbert is grandson to the other one, as shown in Sanders.
