Luther married Lucy Burnham on 9 Mar 1809 in Pomfret, Vermont. Lucy was born on 25 Feb 1788 in Calais, VT. She died on 8 Jun 1860 in Calais, VT.

They had the following children:

i. Rial Ainsworth, born on 24 Dec 1809.
ii. Julia Ainsworth, born on 12 Nov 1811. She died on 13 Mar 1860 in Reading, VT. Julia married Hiram Robinson on 19 Oct 1836.
iii. Polly Ainsworth, born on 14 Sep 1814. She died on 21 Jul 1845. Polly married Harrison Bancroft in Apr 1839.
iv. Jacob Ainsworth, died young. age 9 mos.
v. Jacob Ainsworth, died young at age 5 mos.
vi. Son Ainsworth, died unnamed at 3 mos.
vii. Lucy Ainsworth, born on 4 May 1819. Lucy married (1) Charles R. Cooke on 14 Apr 1846. Charles died on 18 Aug 1855. Lucy married (2) Everett William Raddin on 8 Jun 1885 removed to Cambridge, Mass.
viii. Luther Ainsworth, born on 5 Apr 1821.
ix. Lewis Ainsworth, born on 18 Apr 1823.
x. George Washington Ainsworth, born on 16 Jun 1826. He was a soldier 1863-5 in 1st Vermont Heavy Artillery then resided at Montpelier, VT. and remained unmarried.
xi. Oramel Clark Ainsworth, born on 2 Apr 1830.
xii. Milo Daniel Ainsworth, born on 22 Apr 1832.
