Biography

A previous version of this profile claimed, without source, that Walter Ainsworth was the son of Edward Ainsworth and Sybil Child.^{[citation needed]}

His 1795 marriage record indicates he was son of Edward Ainsworth and Emeline Hubbard, both born in Claremont, New Hampshire.^[1]

His find-a-grave memorial claims, without source, that he was born in Claremont, NH; this WikiTree profile claims, also without source, that he was born in Woodstock, Connecticut.

Wherever he was born, he was in Claremont, New Hampshire by 20 Apr 1795 when he married "Rozie" (Rosamond) Blodgett.^[2]

Walter appears in Claremont in census records from 1800 through 1840.^{[3] [4] [5] [6] [7]}

Research Notes

There was a Walter Ainsworth born in Woodstock, son of Edward and Sybil,^[12] but it looks like this Walter remained in that part of New England; he's a good match for the Walter Ainsworth found in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1850.^[13]
