John Aiken was born in the parish of Craig in 1687, son to John Aitken and Margaret Alexander. He was baptised at Craig on 3 Sep 1687.[1]
He was living and working in the parish of Kinnell when on 1 June 1716 he married Margaret Tod.[2]
They were cottars in the Cotton of Bolshan in the parish of Kinnell when their first two children were born in Apr 1717 and May 1719. [3]
About 1720 they moved to the parish of Farnell and were cottars in East Fithie. Their children Elizabeth and James were born there in 1721 and 1723. [4]

They probably remained in East Fithie for the rest of their lives as their daughter Margaret was still resident in Farnell when she married in 1751.
