Biography

Frederick (Frederic) was born in about 1773 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Jacob Akard and Susannah Margaretha Latture.[1]

In 1797 Frederick (age about 25) was living in No Township Listed, Sullivan County, TN.[2]

In 1800 Frederick (age about 28) was living in Leacock, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Property: 1807 in Virginia, USA. Akard purchased a tract of land also deeded to a Revolutionary War veteran by the State of North Carolina, and was found later to be lying within the boundary of Virginia. The area was called the "Squabble State" when state boundaries were not defined.

Property: 14 October 1809 in Washington County, Virginia (now Scott County, Tennessee). Deed Book 4, page 270, Between George Wilcox and Frederick Acord, for $300, land surveyed and granted to Andrew McClelland, 100 acres, south side of the North Fork of the Holston; bounded by: Peter Morison, John Wolf, Matthias Cleek.

Property: 16 January 1810 in Washington County, Virginia (now Scott County, Tennessee). Above mentioned land proven.

In the 1830 census Frederick (age about 58) was living in Scott County, Virginia.[5]

In the 1840 census Frederick (age about 68) was living in Scott County, Virginia.[6]

In the 1850 census Frederick (age about 78) was living in Western DistrictScott, Virginia.[7]

In the 1860 census Frederick (age about 88) was living in EstillvilleScott, Virginia.[8]

I grew up on the Frederick Akard homeplace in Scott County, Virginia. My grandparents lived on his daughter, Polly’s place, near the family cemetery.
