Note N128W. D. Akard Church Hill — W. D. Akard, 86, retired farmer and lifelong resident of Church Hill, died at his home here Wednesday at 4:30 a. m., of a heart ailment. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p. m., at the Methodist church here, the Rev. C. B. Davis and the Rev. D. P. Denton officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from members of the Men's Bible Class of the church, and flower bearers from among Mr. Akard's granddaughters. Burial will be in Gunnings cemetery. Mr. Akard is survived by his widow, Nancy Flanagan Akard and by three children of a former marriage, Mrs. John Kinkaid and Mrs. W. M. Tippin of Church Hill. His first wife, the former Elizabeth Bond, died in 1915. Also surviving are one sister Mrs. Mollie Davidson of Kingsport, 22 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
