William was born in Somerset in 1888. [1]

In 1891, he was living with his family at home in Somerset.[2]

Now a Major, he was again mentioned in dispatches on 23 December 1918.[6]
In 1919 he was awarded a bar to his DSO - Captain William Philip Jopp Akerman DSO MC Royal Field Artillery, attd. A. Battery, 295th (North Midland) Brigade, Royal Field Artillery.

He married Annie Alexander in Kingsbridge, Devon in 1925. [7]

He served in World War II. In 1939 he was a Colonel. By 1940 he was a Major General.

He passed away in 1972.
