Biography

Lottie was born in Virginia in 1888 to Ennis Anamas Akers (1848–1926) and Chloe (Lester) Akers (1850–1938). She is listed with her parents on the 1900 Census in the Alum Ridge District of Floyd, Virginia.[1] On September 3, 1903 she married Albert Ellis Reed at the age of 15.[2] They are listed together on the following census reports:

  • 1920 Census[4]
  • 1930 Census[5]
  • 1940 Census[6]

Based on the data provided in the census reports; it is believed that they had at least ten children:

  • 1. Roy Lee Reed (1904–1976)[7]
  • 2. Lucy Ada Reed (1907–1919)[8]
  • 3. Chloe Ester Reed (1909-Deceased)[9]
  • 4. Conley Ennis Reed (1911–1941)[10][11]
  • 5. Ellis H. Reed (1913–1981)[12][13]
  • 6. Versa Arlene Reed (1917–1919)[14]
  • 7. Dallas Humphrey Reed (1920–2005)[15]
  • 8. Thelma Lucille Reed (1922–1988)
  • 9. Sylvia May (Reed) Linkous (1926-Deceased)[16]
  • 10. Loren Brown Reed (1932–2021)

Lottie passed away at the age of 67 in 1956.[17] Her husband passed away in 1959[18] and they are both buried in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Floyd, Floyd County, Virginia.[19]
