Maria al-Qibtiyya (Arabic: مارية القبطية, romanized Māriyah bint Shamʻun al-Qibtīyah) was one of the wives of Prophet Muhammad and the mother of his last child Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad.
Her son Ibrāhīm died in childhood in 0632. She died five years later, in Muharram16 AH, February 0637. [1]
Qibtiyya means Coptic, as she was a Coptic from Egypt. She was sent to Muhammad as a concubine from an Egyptian Coptic ruler Al-Muqawqis.
There is disagreement about her marriage with Muhammad. Some of the early scholars have stated that she later married him and is considered one of the wives of Prophet Muhammad and one of the Ummahāt al-Muʻminīn (mothers of believers, i.e., wives of Muhammad). Others maintain that she remained a concubine and did not marry him.
