Biography
Augustin Alaire was born on 12 Nov 1799 and was baptized the next day in Saint-François-de-Sales-de-la-Rivière-du-Sud parish in Montmagny. He was the son of Joseph Allaire, farmer, and his wife Marie Doiron. Sponsors at Augustin's baptism were his paternal uncle Jean Baptiste Alaire and his maternal aunt Marie Marguerit Debreuil; neither signed the register. At age 25 Augustin married Marie Audet on 10 Jan 1825 in Saint-Gervais parish in Bellechasse. There were six known children born into this marriage.
