Roy registered for the Draft on 22 August 1944 in Fulton County, Georgia[1] Later in life, he told his family that he was given a lower classification due to a problem with his nose. When he was younger, he broke his nose and could not breath through it properly. The army didn't want him because of this.

"Roy V. Albea, Sr., age 79, of Decatur, Ga., died Tuesday evening, September 13, 2005, surrounded by his loving family. The funeral will be Friday, September 16, 2005, at 1PM in the Bill Head Funeral Home, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel, with Pastor Sandy Adams officiating. Interment Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, Ga. A native of Greenwood, SC, Roy was a retired Overnite truck driver with 42 years of servcie and a member of Calvary Chapel, Lilburn, Ga. Survived by his wife, Betty H. Albea, Decatur, Ga.; Sons, Roy Vernon Albea, Jr., Savannah, Ga., Charles Lee Albea, Lloyd Milton Albea and Larry Dean Albea, all of Decatur, Ga.; Daughters, June Elizabeth Albea Shearer, Decatur, Ga and Ruby Louise Albea Craft, Lawrenceville, Ga.; Sisters, Tootsie Clarey, Greenville, SC, Marie Wingard, Decatur, Ga. and Pansey Chandler, Greenville, SC; Seven Grandchildren and one Great Granddaughter and one Great Grandson. Arrangements by Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel, 770-564-2726."
