Biography

Mary was a Friend (Quaker)

Mary was born about 1713 (estimate based on date of marriage), probably in New England.

She married Jesse Irish Sr. on 21 Mar 1733 in Newport County, Rhode Island.

Her husband was noted as residing in Oswego in Beekman's Precinct in Dutchess County, New York in 1755 when he was enumerated in an census of Quakers in regard to service in the militia.[1] His profession was that of a farmer.[1]

She died after 29 May 1792 in Danby, Rutland, Vermont.

Research Notes

Although secondary sources have stated that Mary was the daughter of James Albee and Mary Thayer, its been shown that their daughter was married to Samuel Wood at that time. Assuming that Mary was about 22 at the time of marriage 1710 has been used as and estimated date. Albee families living either in Uxbridge or Rhode Island should be investigated as the marriage intention record was there.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:

Darrell,

Although W. L. irish stated in his book "Descendants of John Irish" that Jesse Irish married Mary Albee, daughter of James and Mary Thayer Albee, that is incorrect.

Mary, the daughter of James Albee and his wife Mary Thayer, is mentioned in a Codicil to her grandmother's Will, dated 1743, In it she calls Mary Thayer's daughter "Mary Wood." Jesse Irish did marry a Mary Allebee in Little Compton, Rhode Island, but Mary "Albey," daughter of James Albee and Mary Thayer, married Samuel Wood at Mendon on 23 Nov 1730. See: https://archive.org/stream/vitalrecordsofme00mend#page/228/mode/1up and The American Genealogist, 49 (1973):76.

For this reason, I would like to disconnect this Mary Albee from parents James Albee and Mary Thayer. Vic
