Voorhees farms
Voorhees is a farm, which previously appeared on the lists of income of the abbey Dicninge alongside middle and back-Voorhees. So there were three farms which were leased under the then prevailing conditions.[3]
In the old world they had no family name or surname but when they began life in the new world, he adopted as his surname the name of the village or community in Holland from which he came. This happened to be a small neighborhood of nine houses and fifty people near Ruinen, Drenthe, Holland, know locally as 'Hees'.
Coerte Alberts lived in front of 'Hees' or before 'Hees'. The word 'voor' signifies 'before' so the two words were combined into the name Voorhees. The prefix 'Van' meaning 'from' was often used and these three words ' Van Voor Hees' from before Hees, thus combined formed the full family name of the descendants in America.

as for the additional children, there were a Wessel Coerts, and a Hilbert Coerts but they were from a later generation and there were some Unknown children born and registered that also were from later generations.
The families were mixed up and not all children had profiles (so I guess the Unknowns and daughters didn't have profiles.
I used this genealogy and this Voorhees assosciation and everything else I could find and of course tried to verify things looking for primary sources in the archives and on the internet. Also a problem is the name Coerts, which was very common and there are no records from before 1600, so it's not so easy, we would have to look for charters or things like that ..
There were some Coert Alberts and others added from much earlier here, but no primary sources for them (so there probably was assumed based on the patronymics there would have been a Albert Coerts who was a son of Coert Alberts and so on and they were added to the lineage) there is a book called de geschiedenis van een Ruiner family published in 1983 , some people seem to think this book is based on primary sources but it's in fact a romanticized one, where the writer Jan Poortman has used brief historical information for writing this novel . (parts of it are added to the profile of Steven Coerts)
See also Albert Coerts and the posts and info added there (he is the one with a lot more children. We merged away the very early ones, some van Voorhees genealogies go way back (including thoe Hees) so we can add them later if there are reliable sources for them.
LDS Ancestral File claims some additional children:

Added all info for this profile from the later profile here now, a duplicate for this one probably was merged away earlier and by accident into the later Coert Alberts van Voorhees, but was in fact a duplicate of this one. This probably caused the jumbled up families as well, it now all is corrected, so we will look for some records for them in the Dutch archives now :)
Trying to sort the Dutch part of the family out now, so I'm going to correct children and parents and so on, so they will be more accurate/according the info we have for them
