In 1870, seven-year-old Amelia Jane remained in Manheim Township with her parents John (age 48, farmer on land valued at $5,000) and Juliann Albright (37), her siblings John Valentine (16), Edward Chester (14), Adam Lewis (13), Levi Albert (12), George William (10), Mandilla E. (9), and Mary Dubs (19, domestic servant and future wife of Edward Albright).[2]
Still in Manheim Township in 1880, the household encompassed John (age 57), Julian (47), Edward C. (25), George W. (21), Mandilla E. (19) and Amelia J. Albright (18), and Edward's sons (her nephews) Howard Wesley Albright (4) and Charles Franklin Albright (2).[3]
In 1900, Chester K. (age 43, tenant farmer) and Amelia J. Wentz (38, mother of three, all living) rented a farm in Manheim Township, where they raised their children Bertha Estella (15), Jennie McQuella (11, student) and Elvie Jane Wentz (7).[4]
Chester K. (age 52, house carpenter), Amelia J. (48), Bertha E. (25), Jennie M. (21, millliner) and Elvie J. Wentz (15) relocated to a house they purchased in Codorus Township, York County, before 1910.[14]
Bertha died in 1915[6] and Jennie had married before 1920, leaving Chester (age 61, house carpenter), Emelia Jane (57) and Elvie Wentz (25) alone in their house on Glenville Road in Codorus Township in 1920.[15] By 1930 72-year-old Chester had retied, but he, Amelia (68) and Elvie J Wentz (35) continued to live together in Codorus.[16]
Chester died in 1931 in Codorus Township at age 73.[5] Amelia survived her husband by more than a decade. In 1940, she (age 78) received assistance from her spinster daughter Elvie (45) in their home in Codorus Township.[17] The record states that Amelia had completed eight years of formal education; Elvie, 10 years.[17]
Amelia died 10 May 1944 in Hanover, York County, at age 82 from a cerebral hemorrhage.[1] She was buried 13 May 1944 at Saint Jacob's Stone Church Cemetery in Glenville, York County.[1][18]
