I became hooked on seriously researching our ancestors about 17 yrs. ago. My brother also researches and keeps up the family website, Before he and I, our two aunts and mother did the family research. We are so thankful to have their work to build on. I love that Wikitree is FREE to everyone. Requiring sources helps ensure trees are accurate. As I am retired, I have time to devote to my favorite pastime! I, also, enjoy helping others in their search for their ancestors. If anyone has ancestors in Tioga or Tompkins Counties, NY, I would be happy to assist you if I can. My other loves in life are my three dogs and several cats. I also enjoy writing short stories. Our genealogy trail has been a wild ride! I have met so many wonderful, helpful people! I'm looking forward to more interesting discoveries here on Wikitree!

My Eakin (inlaw) family starts with Laura Eakin-390. You can click on the Ancestors button to see her line. I do not add any living people to WikiTree, so my partner (her son) does not appear. Works for you? Let me know! Jane

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site

Happy tree climbing

Thanks for the questions.. Here is what to do:

WikiTree is an exciting, growing community and we are really glad you decided to join us.

The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used. WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

1) Just add a Tag for each family surname or location you are researching. Then click the “Post Tags and Volunteer” button. (information on Tags can be found at Tags.

One of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership.
