Biography

Charles Alcock was baptised on 12 Nov 1795 at Slindon,^[1] the event also being entered in the register of Horsted Keynes.^[2] He was the son of Reverend Charles Alcock and his wife Charlotte Parsons. He graduated from New College, Oxford, where he was elected a Fellow, and in 1822 he was appointed vicar of Adderbury in Oxfordshire. In 1835 he married Mary Butler,^[3] and they had five children. In the 1851 UK census, he was living alone in North Street, Midhurst. He died in late 1857.
