William Alcock, illegitimate son of Mary Alcock, was christened at Duffield, Derbyshire, on 2 June 1728. His mother subsequently married Thomas Slater, on 14 April 1730, and although Thomas acknowledged William as his adopted son, it is unclear whether he was the natural father - see discussion by the Slater Study Group in references below.
He married Elizabeth (Fox?), and died on 10 August 1782.
