DAVENPORT — Wayne A. Alcott, 69, of Davenport passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born Nov. 27, 1935, in Schenevus, the son of Carlton and Rose (Greengrow) Alcott.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents, his two brothers, Carlton and Arthur Alcott.
On April 12, 1975, he married Diane Finch in Davenport Center. He served in the United States Air Force for nine years beginning in 1953, and served at the end of the Korean Conflict and was honourably discharged in 1962. Wayne was an independent truck driver for Clune Lumber Company and Husky Industries. He also drove for Riddell’s. Wayne was known as the Bar-Keep for the Country Tavern, where he worked for seven years for the Fisher Brothers Band. He enjoyed hunting, working in his garage and mechanising. Wayne loved to drive his tractor-trailer, and spending time with his grandchildren. Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Diane Alcott of Davenport; his daughter, Rose Mary (Alcott) Chase and her fiancé, Alan Clark, of Davenport Center; his stepchildren, Kirk and Dawn Finch of Davenport Center, Kim Aldrich and her fiancé, Paul Closs, of Walton, Gordon (Butch) Aldrich Jr. of Davenport, Rodney Harris and his fiancée, Arta Beebe, of Davenport Center and Roger Harris of Delhi; his grandchildren, Brendan and Brittany Chase of Davenport Center, Javin and Jessica Guile, U.S. Air Force, stationed in South Korea, Jamey Eggler of Walton, Melissa Aldrich of Davenport, Larry VanKeuren of Oneonta, Gordon Aldrich III of Davenport, Tyler Harris of Delhi, Matthew Harris of Davenport Center, Kiara Lynn Carson Harris of Davenport Center, Frank, Betty Lou, Maxwell and Jasmine Clark of Davenport Center; his brothers and their spouses, Russell "Rusty" and Lois Alcott of Huntsville, Ala., and James and Gail Alcott of Glenmore, Pa.; his stepmother, Ella Alcott Chase; his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Joel and Margaret Finch of Davenport Center, Betty Gransbury of Walton and Daniel and Vi Finch of Winter Springs, Fla.; his sisters-in-law, Mary Alcott of Albany and Virginia Alcott of Rochester; as well as several nieces and nephews and special friends, Jim and Evelyn Fisher of Oneonta, Bill and Gail Neville of Baltimore, Md., and Mary Ann Helmer of Davenport Center, and, as he called her, his "other daughter," Cindy Reynolds of East Meredith. He was predeceased by his granddaughters, Sabrina and Necole Aldrich.
