Nothing is known of the ancestry of Amasa Alden. The 1850 Census shows him as 43 years old, born in Maine.[1] The 1928 history of Livermore, Maine, says he was born in 1807,[2] and the death record of his daughter Celestia gives his birthplace as Canton, Maine.[3]
Marriage
The 1828 history of Livermore, Maine says that Amasa Alden married "Eliza P. B."[2] The death record of their daughter Celestia names her mother as Eliza P. Austin.[3]

The children of Amasa and Eliza Alden, as listed in the 1928 history of Livermore, Maine,[2] with their ages in 1850,[1] were:
He was a man of good education combined with native wit and a firm believer in Spiritualism. In 1887 he published a little book of poems. He was a brick mason by trade and lived in several places near the Falls in Livermore.[2]
Death
Amasa Alden died in 1890.[2] A brief obituary in the Boston Globe of 16 Apr, under the headline "Poet Amasa Allen Dead," read:
Livermore Falls, Me. April 15—Amasa Allen, a respected citizen of Livermore, died today, aged 83 years. Deceased was a man of much literary ability, and had written one book of poems.[4]
A gravestone at the Lamb Cemetery in Livermore Falls, Maine, says that Amasa Alden died on 15 Apr 1890 at the age of 83.[5]
