Biography

James Aldous, son of Thomas Aldous and Elizabeth Holland, was born about 1797 and christened[1] at Stradbroke, Suffolk, England on 16 April 1797.

On 2 November 1830 he was married[2][3] to Mary Mutimer at Stradbroke.

The 1841 Census[4] shows the family living "at the south end of the street" in Stradbroke with James working as a butcher.

After the death of Mary in 1846, the 1851 Census[5] shows James resident with his two youngest surviving children at the Hoxne Union Workhouse in Stradbroke. The other children were living with their late mother's parents.

James was shown as still resident in Stradbroke but no longer in the workhouse for the 1861[6] and 1871[7] censuses.

In 1872 the death[8] of James at the age of 75 was registered at Hoxne

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
