Ballou Aldrich was born May 25, 1772 at Smithfield, Providence, Rhode Island. He was also known as "Barlow." He was the son of Sylvanus Aldrich and his wife Dorothy (Smith) Aldrich.
In 1791 he married Olive (Sheldon) Aldrich.
