On August 4, 1785, Delilah Aldridge bound out two of her children to Henry Speer. Records do not indicate if the children were orphaned, illegitimate, or who the father was. However, some researchers show Delilah Aldridge was baptized on April 27, 1760, at St. Annes Parish, Albemarle County, Virginia, the daughter of Frances Aldridge and Henrietta Prince. Delilah’s son Daniel Aldridge was born May 4, 1777, and was bound out until age 21; and Elizabeth Aldridge, born July 1781, was bound out until age 16. Daniel later went by the name of Daniel A. Speer. On March 14, 1788, Henry Speer deeded 140 acres of land on Deep Creek to Delilah Aldridge for 5 shillings.
