Biography

Jonas was killed during the Civil War at the Battle of Gadfly in Missouri. He married Mary Leffingwell Spalding on 12 April 1854 in Sebastian County, Arkansas. Jonas and Mary had two children, Martha Ann and Jonas Willard Aleshire. After Jonas was killed, his brother, Newell Nelson Aleshire married Mary and raised the children as his own. Newell and Mary moved to Minnesota and spent the rest of their lives there.
