Lydia Rosina was born 8 June 1893 on Saint Helena. She was baptised 21 July 1893 at St Paul's, daughter of unmarried woman Adelaide Alexander.
There are no Saint Helena records for Adelaide Alexander other than this one baptism. In 1901, Ada Adelaide Alexander Ellick married William Yon on Saint Helena. Ada passed away in 1927 in Rhodesia. Lydia Rosina Yon married Edward Clingham in South Africa in 1915. It appears that when Ada gave birth to Lydia as an unmarried woman, she baptised the child using two of her forenames and left her surname of Ellick off the baptism record. When Ada Ellick married William Yon in 1901, eight year old Lydia assumed the surname of her step-father William Yon and went to South Africa with her mother and step-father. When her mother died in 1927,informant for the death registration was daughter Lydia Clingham.
Ada Adelaide Alexander Ellick married William Alfred Yon 15 Jul 1901 at St Paul's Church on Saint Helena.
15 Jan 1915 - Bachelor 30 yr old Farrier Edward Frederick Clingham married Spinster 21 yr old Lydia Rosina Yon in Claremont, South Africa.
There are several records indicating that she and her husband Edward Frederick visited Cape Town often but none confirming when they arrived in Rhodesia. They appear to have moved to Gwelo and before her death she was residing in Umtali.
Lydia Graham died in July 1974 at age 81, in Umtali, Zimbabwe.[1]
