Mrs. Rebecca J. Wells, a much esteemed lady, relict of Benjamin Wells, died suddenly on Tuesday morning at her home near the Elkton station, death resulting from apoplexy with which she was stricken that morning soon after arising. Mrs. Wells was seventy three years of age, and spent her entire life in Elkton, where she was born March 17, 1824. She was a daughter of the late David Alexander, and sister of Mrs. William H. Eder, of Elkton, and William D. Alexander of North East. Her husband the late Benjamin Wells, was for upwards of sixty years ticket agent and station master at Elkton, and was widely known through his long railroad service. She leaves four children— Henry A. Wells, of Buffalo, N. Y., connected with the Associated Press; Mrs. William Alrich, of Elkton; Benjamin Wells, Adams Express Agent at Elkton; Charles G. Wells, assistant station agent at Elkton. The funeral services were held from her late home yesterday, Friday afternoon at three o’clock. The remains were laid to rest in the Elkton cemetery.
