Biography

Elisha was born in 1770.

Residence

It is well documented that brothers Elijah and Elisha followed their brother Daniel into SC around 1800, buying land along the Keowee and Crow Creek. Elijah and Elisha also married Grogan sisters: Elijah m. Sarah and Elisha m. Nancy. Elijah and Sarah are buried here.

The location of the graves for Elisha and Nancy have not been identified. The numerous unmarked graves and Elisha's Last Will and Testament suggest that Keowee Baptist is the most likely location for both Elisha and Nancy.

NOTE: Elisha's will has been edited by me to reflect only significant points. Probate Place: Pickens, South Carolina[4]

Last Will and Testament of ELISHA ALEXANDER August 8th, in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and thirty two — Know all men by these presents that I, ELISHA ALEXANDER being of sound mind do now bequeath:

As follows to my sons ELIJAH, THOMAS and DANIEL that part of my track of land situated on Crow Creek which lies above the still house branch and joins the land of DANIEL ALEXANDER, SR.

I bequeath to my beloved sons GEORGE WASHINGTON and ELISHA the balance of said track lying below said branch on Crow Creek and joining to PRIOR ALEXANDER's land on which my dwelling house now stands.

I do also bequeath to my beloved wife NANCY … my dwelling house and a maintenance out of that part of said plantation willed to my two sons GEORGE WASHINGTON & ELISHA … that she have out of the present crop what will be sufficient for her support and after taking out the fifth of the whole crop which is the share of my son-in-law HENRY GROGAN. I desire the balance to be sold and applied to the payment of my just and lawful debts.

Signed ELISHA ALEXANDER and in Testimony of which we affix our seals: CHARLES M. REESE (seal), ELIJAH ALEXANDER (seal), and JOHN F. HERD (seal) [recorded in Book 1 on page 17, on September 10, 1832]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Elisha by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Elisha:
