William Alexander was born in Middlesex, England.

William was born on 18th October,1855, in Marylebone, Middlesex, England. He is the son of William Alexander and Mary Cartwright. ^[1]

William was baptised on 11th November, 1855 in All Souls, St. Marylebone, Middlesex. ^[2]

William was the first child and son born to William and Mary, and in the 1861 census, he was recorded living with his parents and siblings Henry James Alexander and Mary Jane Alexander, in 16, Charlotte Street, St Pancras, London & Middlesex, England. ^[3]

The 1871 census records William, now aged 15 years, living at 41, Margaret Street, Marylebone, London, England, with his parents and siblings, Mary J Alexander, George A Alexander, Charles E Alexander, Rosalie K Alexander and Augustus Alexander. His occupation was recorded as Pupil to Dentist. ^[4]

During 1880, in Kensington, London, William married Marianne Smith. ^[5]

The 1881 census shows the couple living in 43 High Street, Marylebone, Middlesex. William is recorded as a Dentist Assistant. ^[6]

In 1891, William and Marianne were living at 55 Grove Road, Marylebone, Middlesex. William was recorded as a Registered Dentist. ^[7]

When the 1901 census was taken, William was recorded as a Registered Dentist, and the couple were now living in 84, Centurion Road, Brighton, Sussex, England. ^[8]

By 1911, William and Marianne were living in 167 High Street, Tooting, Middlesex, and William was now recorded as a Surgeon Dentist. The census also records that they never had children. ^[9]
