Geoffrey's birth was registered in the Depwade district in the last quarter of 1903. His mother's maiden name was Sadd.[1] He was christened at Dickleburgh on 11 October. The christening record gives his parents as Edwin John Alexander and Isabella Lucy Reynolds.[2]
At the 1911 census he was living in Dickleburgh with his parents and two siblings. The names of his parents match those in his christening record.[3]
His mother was Lucy Reynolds Sadd, and her mother's name was Moore, according to the GRO Index entry for her birth.[4] She appears as Elizabeth L R Sadd in the 1881 census, living in Dunwich, Suffolk with her father, two brothers, and 76 year old Lucy Moore who was probably her maternal grandmother.[5] Her father was quite likely this John Sadd.
