John Pierpont Alexander, 85, a resident of San Benito for the past 43 years, died Friday in Dolly Vinsent Hospital. He had been an employee of the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 53 years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elsie Margaret Alexander; three sons, John P., Jr. of Oklahoma City, Walter Patrick of El Campo, and Herman Sr. of Los Angeles; four daughters, Mrs. Maxine Dodson of San Benito, Mrs. Peggy Graham of La Feria, Mrs. Betty Lou Holbert of Victoria, and Mrs. Geraldine Esler of Amarillo; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Thomas Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Mont Meta Memorial Park. San Benito News, Mon., 7/22/1968 [obit faded & difficult to read]
