Biography

William Alexander served in the United States Civil War.

William was born in 1829. He was the son of William Alexander and Mary Parsley. He married Judith Burnette. In the 1860 census, he is listed as a slave owner in St. Paul's Parish, Hanover, Virginia, United States.^[1]

He served in the 15th Regiment, Virginia Infantry in the U.S. Civil War for the Confederacy.^[2] His muster date was 23 Apr 1861 and was injured in 30 Jul 1861 with nephritis. He mustered out date was on 14 Oct. 1861. ^[3]

He died on 4 May 1904 and was buried in Alexanders Corner, Hanover County, Virginia, United States.^[4] In his wife's 1911 pension application, the cause of his death is listed as pneumonia. ^[5] He is in a directory of these buried in the Alexander Family Cemetery.^[6]
