Elizabeth was born about 1786. She passed away before 1860.
1815 Marriage[1] Jacob Fox married Elizabeth Ely on 3 Oct 1815 in Green County, Ohio.
1818 Jacob Fox and Elizabeth, his wife, signed a quit claim naming her father as Isaac Aley. Several of her siblings, all of Green County, Ohio (unless otherwise noted) also signed quit claims to their brother, Jacob Aley:[2][3]
Michael Gunckel and Sarah his wife of Montgomery Co., Ohio... Sarah being a daughter of Isaac Eley
John Aley and Susannah his wife... John Aley being a son of Isaac Eley
Jacob Fox and Elizabeth his wife... Elizabeth being a daughter of Isaac Aley
Isaac Aley... a son of Isaac Eley
David Cosler and Mary his wife... Mary being a daughter of Isaac Aley
Jacob Gerst and Catherina his wife of Montgomery, Co., Ohio... Catherina being a daughter of Isaac Aley

1850 Census[4]
26 Aug 1850, Moorefield Township, Clark County, Ohio;
Jacob 63 Farmer MD, Elizabeth 64 MD, Sarah 25 OH, Simeon 17 Farmer.
Here in 1850 we see Jacob & Elizabeth and their children. (A Mary "Polly" Reed has already married and moved out.) Jacob makes it very clear in his will that he has 3 children:
A Mary "Polly" Fox (Reed), wife of John Wilson Reed. Mary died 3 Jan 1877, shortly before her father did. Her death record lists her parents as Jacob Fox & Elizabeth.[5][6]
Simon Fox was born 22 Jul 1833 and died 9 Mar 1923. His parents as listed on the death certificate are Jacob Fox & Mary Aley, both of PA. The informant was Mrs. [Alice Lavina Fox] Grant Campbell (Simon's eldest daughter) and it does not appear to be totally accurate. His mother's name is listed as Mary Aley, actually Simon's mother was Elizabeth Aley (Ely/Eley) and Mary was his step-mother - Mary Lillich Hause Fox. Also his parent's place of birth is listed as PA rather than MD as shown in the census records.[7][8]
Living nearby is the household of Adam & Hanna (Aley) Shuey with children Amos Aley (13), E A Arbogast (f, 13) and F O Body (m, 6). Hanna is Elizabeth's sister. Amos seems to be the son of their brother Isaac.
Death Elizabeth died sometime before 1860, evidenced by the fact that Jacob was enumerated with his new wife Mary in the 1860 census. Elizabeth was buried in Ferncliff Cemetery in Springfield, Clark County, Ohio, between her husband Jacob and his second wife, Mary Lillich Hause.[9] Find A Grave: Memorial #40946834
