I'm #0189. I joined because of all the Alfords who married into the Jesters in AR. I haven't submitted Tabitha Alford, because I can't yet prove she is my Ancestor, altho I think she is. I attended the Reunion when it was in Houston. Haven't made another one. Gil and I had a big argument over Burgess Stanford Alford. That was back in the late 80s, early 90s. Harold Glen Alford #227 put Burgess Stanford's diary in the Museum in Washington, AR. Harold found Another Alford line. In AL/FL several Jester Descendants m. Alfords also.
Hi! Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:
Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.
We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, member interviews, and guest posts from others in the genealogy community. And, we're always looking for volunteers to help in different ways.
Hi, I am Dorothy, a WikiTree mentor!! Are you enjoying your time on WikiTree so far?
Now that you have had a little time to try our site, there are a few more features you may find useful:
For instance, ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards; including some tips on writing biographies
Also a friendly reminder about adding sources and references to your profile. Sources are critically important for genealogy and you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from. This page describes different kinds of sources: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sources
You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering.
There are 1,318 Alfords on our tree, the oldest one born in 1490. Your Elizabeth is on our tree, but unfortunately as of yet her mother is not listed. Good luck on making connections here!
Have fun and ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist.
If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.
Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site youve ever used.
WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!
What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research youd like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, youll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.
Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and youll be on your way!
Welcome to the family! Were really glad youre here.
I've done almost nothing in WikiTree, but your contacting me gives me inspiration to get back to it. Thank you and best wishes!
If you have any questions, holler.
