Bynum Alford was born on 31 Dec 1787 in Wilkes, Georgia, USA as the fourth child of Isham Alford Sr and Anne Ferrell . He had four siblings, namely: Britton Washington Sr. , Burtis, Archibald Baldy , and Anna Ferrell. He died in 1851 in De Kalb, Georgia, USA.

Bynum Alford served in the military between 1812-1815 in United States (Rifleman in Alexander's Battalion). He lived in District 563, DeKalb, Georgia, United States in 1840.
