Biography

Married Sarah W Simmons in Washington Parish, Louisiana daughter of James Washington Simmons and Eliza Ann Stallings.[1]

They had the following children: Vesta, Luna L, James W, Silas John, Hosea Boyd, Laura B, Maggie L, and William D B, Ottis, Willie, and Laudis E.. Children are shown born between 1882 and 1906.[2]

The family lived east of Mt. Hermon in the area known as "Alford Town." He homesteaded 132 acres July 3, 1897, from the New Orleans Federal Land Office. The land was located in section 17, township 1S, range 10E. At the time of his death, he owned 180 acres valued at $1,000; 3 mules valued at $175; 1 mare and colt valued at $62; 17 head of cattle valued at $68; 35 head of sheep valued at $21.85; 1 mule wagon valued at $12.50; 1 lot of household furnishings valued at $100.

Jesse B Alford died in 1909 and is buried in the Jesse Alford Cemetery, Washington Parish, Louisiana.[3]
