Biography

Richard Alfrey was the son of John Alfrey and his wife Maria. ^[1]

His older brother, John, died in 1637, leaving Richard his heir to Hophurst. ^[2]

Richard married twice, first to Catherine/Katherine Pain ^[3], second to Judith Jenner, in 1658. ^[4]

Richard died circa 1660. see will 1660/ Richard Alfrey of Worth, gent A29 P15 18, gives to poor of Ardingly and Worth and to Judith his wife, to Richard his son lands, woods ? Houldings & building lying in the parishes of Worth, East Grinstead and Lindfield when he attains the age of 21. gives to Avantis? Alfrey (son) lands being in Ardingly when he reaches 21. gives to dau? Francis, [in fact a son, see christening 1648] gives to daughter Susan Allfrey £300 when she is 21. [as yet unmarried]
