James Algie was born 26th October 1862 at 9 Merkland Street, Partick, Lanarkshire, Scotland, the son of Robert Algie & Catherine Hannah.[1][2]
James Algie, Rivetter, Bachelor, age 19, of 7 Centre Street, Whiteinch, Partick, (son of Robert Algie, Rivetter & Catherine Algie maiden surname Hannah) & Henrietta Watt, Book-binder, Spinster, age 18, of 40 North Street, Whiteinch, Partick, (daughter of Duncan Watt, Ship Rigger, Journeyman & Jane Watt maiden surname Affleck) were married 30th December 1881 at 40 North Street, Whiteinch, Partick, Lanarkshire, Scotland after Banns according to the Forms of the Established Church of Scotland by Quinton Johnston, Minister of Whiteinch. James & Henrietta both signed. Witnesses were Frank Robb & Sarah Cairns.[3]
James Algie left his family, and emigrated to Queensland, Australia about 1922.[4]
Henrietta Algie died aged 68, in 1932 in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire North Riding, England.[5]
James Algie married Isabella Stewart 3rd February 1936, in Queensland, Australia.[6]
James Algie died aged 92, on 30th November 1954 at his home in First Street, Home Hill, Queensland, Australia & was laid to rest later the same day at the Home Hill Cemetery, Home Hill, Queensland, Australia.[7][8]
His Obituary reads:
The death occurred at Home Hill on Tuesday morning of Mr. James Algie at his home in First Street. Deceased, who had recently attained his 92nd birthday, was born in Glasgow and had lived in Australia for almost 32 years, the greater part of that time being in Home Hill. There was a break of a few years when he resided on the Dawson. He was a boilermaker by trade and worked on the installation of the boilers at Inkerman Mill. He is survived by his widow.[4]
