Robert, a Mechanical Engineer[1] was born on the 14th of November, 1827, in Johnstone, Renfrewshire, Scotland, United Kingdom the son of Alexander Allan and Agnes Webster.[2]
At 14, in 1841, he was a Bobbin Mechanic at No. 3, Maxwelton Street, Paisley Martys Parish, Renfrewshire, in a household comprising John Hobus 65 and Christina Nielson 45."1841 Scotland Census"
At 21, on the 23rd of June, 1848, he married Agnes Duncan in Abbey, Paisley, Scotland, and in about 1850 they had a daughter, named Mary Allan.[3]
At 25, in 1851, he was living at 32 Maxwelton [Street], Paisley Abbey Parish, Renfrewshire, with his family comprising Agnes 24, apparently his child Mary 1.[4]???
At 31, on the 1st of July, 1857, in Paisley, he and Agnes had a second daughter, named Laura Allan.[5][6]
At 34, in 1861, he was living in Woodside Lodge, Paisley High Church Parish, Renfrewshire, in a household comprising Agnes' parents, John 67, and Margaret Duncan 66, and a Mary 11, and Laura 3,[7]
At 35, in 1862, he second married Agnes Main at Port Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Scotland.[8]
At 39, in 1966, he and Agnes emigrated from Scotland to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.[9][citation needed]
At 37, on the 27th of December, 1888, He died in 'Florenceville', West Moreland Street, Forest Lodge, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia,[10] and was buried in the Rookwood Rookwood Methodist Cemetery, Rookwood, New_South_Wales, Australia.[11]
