Biography

Elizabeth was born about 1844. She was the daughter of John Allan and Mary Fiddes.

In 1851 she was living with her father and her sisters Mary and Frances at Lesbury.

Nothing further is known of Elizabeth at this stage.

Research Notes

There are two birth registrations in the area for Elizabeth Allen (see below) and Elizabeth Allan (Alnwick - 1846 Apr-May-Jun, vol 25, page 247). It's remotely possible the second one is the correct one. Her mother Mary Ann died in 1845. If her mother died delivering her and her distraught family expected she also was likely to die, the registration may have been delayed for a few months.

After the 1851 census no records have been found for Elizabeth. Possibly she died as a child or perhaps she was adopted and became known by an alternative name?
