George was born about 1759. He was baptised at Wath, near Ripon, Yorkshire, England on 7 April 1759.[1] (One transcript on Familysearch wrongly gives the date as 17 April.[2] An image of the parish register on FindMyPast confirms it was 7 April.[3]
He studied at Brasenose College, Oxford, matriculating in 1777 (BA 1781, MA 1785).[4] and then becoming a clergyman. He was Rector of Hodnet, Shropshire from 1803 to 1807 and again from 1823 to his death, and was a Prebendary of Ripon Cathedral.[5]
In 1794 he married Anne Elizabeth Whitehall Davies of Worthenbury, Flintshire.[6]
George was buried at Worthenbury, Flintshire on 9 December 1826.[7]
