On 28 Feb 1729, Jean Baptiste, age 26, married Agathe Meunier, also 26 years old, at L'Ancienne-Lorette which was nearby within the Gouvernement de Québec, Nouvelle-France. Present at the marriage were Jean Meunier (brother of the bride), Jacques Duboc and Etienne Garnier.

Agathe and Jean Baptiste had nine children together from 1730 to 1746, including four girls and five boys.

Jean Baptiste and family lived through the French and Indian War (1754-1763), which was the North American theatre of Europe's Seven Years' War among France, Great Britain and their conflicting allies - but referred to in Québec as La Guerre de la Conquête - following which their homeland was ceded to Great Britain.

Jean Baptiste lived to be 85 years old. He died on 7 Mar 1788 and was buried the following day, at Yamaska, which was then part of the Province of Quebec, in British North America.
