Mary Ellen Allatt was born on 25 September 1884 in Tumut, New South Wales, Australia, the daughter of Charles Henry and Mary Ellen (Kemp) Allatt[1] and was the sister of Bertha E Allatt, George (Beechworth, Vic.), Sarah (Mrs. Bert Ibbotson (Katoomba) and Harriet (Mrs. Fred. Myers, Perth, W.A.) Myers.
Her mother died 20 days after Mary"s birth, on 10 October 1884, and she died 6 weeks later on 24 December 1884 in Tumut, New South Wales, Australia having lived only 3 months[2].[3] Mary's mother Mary possibly died as a result of complications during childbirth.
