On 3 Feb 1915, in Port Broughton Methodist Church, Douglas married Mary Ann Henrietta Routley, the daughter of Charles George Routley and Mary Ann Henrietta Myers.

Douglas died on 5 Jul 1961 in Port Pirie, South Australia, and was buried in Port Pirie Cemetery on the 6th July 1961.

A Note attached to Henry Allchurch on Ancestry.com states:
"Allchurch, Button, Routley connection.
Joan (Gray) Allchurch, daughter of Bruce Pont Allchurch (son of Henry Allchurch), married Ivan Donald Button, a descendant of Edwin Button and Ann Earl.
This is the Button family of Emily May Button, who married Edgar Norman Dalling, the parents of Charles Edwin Kevin, Edna May, and Ronda Gladys.
Ronda Gladys Dalling married Russell Charles Routley.
Russell's Auntie,Maryanne Henrietta Routley (his father's sister), married Douglas Allchurch, who is a son Of Henry Allchurch." [5]

—Allchurch—Routly.—Last Wednesday a marriage of much interest to
the residents of Port Broughton took place, when Miss Etta Routly, eldest
daughter of Mr. Charles Routly, and Mr. Douglas Allchurch, eldest son of
Mr. H. Allchurch, of this town, were joined in matrimony. The wedding
ceremony was performed by Rev. Percy Eckersley, in the Methodist Church.
A large crowd of friends and relations of bride and bride groom was present,
and adjourned to the town hall, where a sumptuous repast was partaken of,
interspersed with speeches of congratulation by Messrs. Pattingale, Whittaker,
Goodrldge, and Rev. Percy Eckersley. The bridegroom, on behalf of his bride
and himself, responded. The young couple motored to Kadina en route to
